My usual weather forecasting methods have proven unsuccessful this week. My routine has been the same since I lived in the lovely second floor of Hewlett Hall at UNCW; First I wake up, and then I look outside. Others have informed me that they rely upon something called “the radio” and the local evening news. I awoke Monday morning to at least 3 inches of snow, with the promise of more to come. Tuesday was no better upon cursory examination, but I wanted to make the 1.5 mile trek to my office anyway. (Yes, 1.5 miles is a trek with a rear-wheel drive truck on ice.)
I made it to the office around 8:30. I had to shovel my way up the sidewalk! One other person arrived around 9:00, but we both left before 10. I took the photo to prove that I had come in. The ice is supposed to melt this afternoon, but this is not soon enough for me. I slipped coming in the door this morning. The fall ensures a large bruise will appear tomorrow on my left side.
