Install Problem with Fedora Core 1 : Nov 29, 05:07 PM

I was installing the Fedora Core 1 on one of my new Dell Poweredge 1750 systems today when I ran into a problem. The install went fine, finding my LSI 53C1030 SCSI controller (using mptbase & mptscsih). After package selection and partition formatting, the install would error out on transferring the install image. I did a google on the problem, and came up with a couple of questionable solutions. In the end, I found that the install worked after I passed 2 arguments at boot (ide=nodma mem=512M). I think the biggest problem was actually the fact that I have 1GB RAM in these systems.

  2. Thanks from me too! Saved me some time, but I found that I needed to go down to mem=256M. (Dell PowerEdge 1750, 2GB RAM)

  3. Thanks Alvin, I have to now tell my boss that his new server has too much memory :).. I also have 2GB in my poweredge and mem=256M worked great ! I am now expert and going thru the pre-install process of fedora.
